Job Summary and Qualifications

The Central Sterile Technician prepares Operating Room surgical case carts, decontamination, assembly and sterilization of re-processable supplies, equipment and surgical instruments in compliance with good hospital practice standards under direct or indirect supervision.

ยท Properly operate cleaning and sterilization equipment, such as cart washers, sonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and heat-sealing units.

ยท You will demonstrate proper knowledge and understanding of all chemicals, detergents, and other cleaning and/or disinfecting agents used in the department.

ยท Demonstrate appropriate knowledge and skill in assembly of trays and peel packs, to include identification of contents, internal chemical indicators, lot control numbers, wrapping, labeling and methods of sterilization.

ยท Transport clean and soiled case carts between the operating rooms and Sterile Processing. Transport additional instrumentation as needed between Peri-operative Services and CSP areas.

ยท Maintain cleanliness and appropriate supply levels at workstations in all areas of department 

    What qualifications you will need:

    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
    • High School Graduate / GED
    • (CRCST) Certified Registered Central Service Technician, or (CSPDT) Cert Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician required
    • Previous sterile processing technician experience is preferred
