Job description

We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Laboratory Assistant to join a dynamic clinical team in the Midwest region. This role involves supporting laboratory operations by collecting and processing specimens, performing waived and moderate complexity testing, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process blood, urine, and other specimens accurately and timely.
  • Perform and report waived and moderate complexity tests under supervision.
  • Maintain quality control by analyzing and recording test results, identifying deviations, and notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Adhere to safety protocols including handling infectious materials and using personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and inventory, ensuring cleanliness and proper documentation.
  • Assist with patient specimen collection and distribution of test results.
  • Follow confidentiality policies and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Clinical Laboratory Assistant program.
  • At least one year of experience in blood specimen collection or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: Six months experience in a medical or clinical laboratory setting.
Requirements
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
  • Completion or willingness to complete Mandatory Reporter training within six months of hire.
  • Ability to perform physical demands of the job with or without accommodations.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
