Job description

Patient Registrar

Purpose of Position: To obtain all necessary information from both inpatients and outpatients to initiate treatment and billing by completing data entry and clinical information into the registration system. The registration department is the front door to this hospital and the patient registrar must provide professional, efficient, quality customer service.

Job Description:

  • Enter and/or verify all information into Medipac registration system
  • Verify eligibility for all insurances utilizing electronic verification systems
  • Complete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare patient
  • Screen all Medicare outpatient lab patients for medical necessity
  • Offer financial assistance and do quick financial screening application for all uninsured patients
  • Enter admissions for any ED admission
  • Update departed emergency patients
  • Tear down and assemble ED record
  • Contact AultWorks for any workmans compensation patient
  • Memo all pertinent information regarding billing and insurance into Mpac system
  • Assure that Medipac System and Cerner system are in sync at all times
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the following systems: MPAC, Cerner (FirstNet and SugiNet), AultWorks, RevRunner, RQI, Bed Tracking, HealthWorks Compliance Checker
  • Follow all hospital and department policies

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, minimum
  • Ability to type at least 35 wpm
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, useful
  • Ability to work calmly and accurately in stressful situations
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Professional manner and appearance
