Job description

Position Summary:
Ceramics instructors will be responsible for providing instruction to participants in a safe, fun and age-appropriate manner. The Successful candidate must demonstrate experience and ability to instruct a variety of populations from the community, including children through seniors. Experience in wheel throwing, hand building, glazing techniques and electric kiln firing is desired. The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator and the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for developing and implementing a variety of ceramics classes to meet the needs of participants.
  • responsible for keeping an inventory of supplies, scheduling and completing firing of kiln.
  • Ensure that wheels and equipment are in good working order.
  • Organize and maintain a clean working space in the clay studio.
  • Must demonstrate a thorough and accurate understanding of different ceramic styles and techniques.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with participants, parents, staff and members of the community.
  • Responsible for evaluating program outcomes and making recommendations to improve classes.
  • Assist with special events and/or exhibits.

Education, Training & Certifications:
Necessary:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Current CPR and First Aid Required within 30 days of hire date
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing
  • 1-2 years of previous ceramic instruction
  • Must possess a valid Colorado Drivers License
  • Must successfully complete a background check
