Senior Platform Engineer (Storage)

Responsibilities
  • Managing, deploying and maintaining large scale distributed Ceph storage solutions

  • Ensure high availability and performant storage by providing troubleshooting and debugging support, conducting performance tuning and continuously improving data integrity and reliability

  • Evolve processes and best practices to maximize performance and cost efficiency  

  • Staying up to date with Ceph/Storage current developments and experimental features. Share findings and consult architecture changes with the team

  • Analyze storage trends and participate in capacity planning

Requirements
  • Experience managing and administrating Ceph Storage, object and block

  • 5+ years of experience with Linux systems tooling and troubleshooting in networking, configuration and deployment

  • First hand experience with industry standard storage protocols

  • Strong Kubernetes skills

  • Proven ability to mentor Junior Members of the team

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Skills & Knowledge
  • Ceph & Rook expertise managing storage clusters with a deep understanding of the architectural and operational workings

  • Experience in designing and implementing large scale globally distributed storage systems

  • Scripting and Automation experience in Bash, Python or Go

  • Ability to support engineers with solving problems in integrating their systems with core Kubernetes components is preferred

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and deployment tooling (Terraform, Ansible)

  • Experience with Kubernetes development including operators and controllers is a plus
