Job description

Position Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger-related duties, cost accounting, and FP&A, providing financial insights and guidance to management. This role includes preparing journal entries, analyzing trends, and offering strategic recommendations to optimize resource utilization and budget assumptions.


Reports to: Director of Finance or Regional Controller

Job Status:

Role Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries and departmental allocations; post to JD Edwards Enterprise One.

• Perform daily banking activities, as assigned.

• Identify and resolve issues with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory.

• Conduct month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Ensure accurate financial disclosure and reporting to management and external users, including census bureau and BEA reports.

• Perform account reconciliations to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

• Provide financial information and schedules to external auditors during the annual financial audit.

• Prepare tax-basis financial reports and schedules for the Tax Manager.

• Perform and review variance accounting.

• Lead the annual budget process for assigned companies according to the schedule.

• Support and lead ad-hoc projects and financial analyses as needed.

• Provide technical support and advice on management accounting.

• Review and recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.

• Participate in various Finance department duties as required.

• Prepare cash flow reports and monitor cash needs.

• Formulate KPIs and conduct special financial analyses.

• Set up payments in banking online systems.

• Process credit applications for new vendors.


Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required.

• MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred.


Experience / Skills / Abilities:

• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.

• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with multiple departments and stakeholders.

• High level of organization, prioritization, and attention to detail.

• Adaptability to changing organizational and operational needs.

• Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).

• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, Functions).

• Experience with ERP systems and reporting tools (preferably JD Edwards Enterprise One).

• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

• Willingness to travel and work extended hours to meet deadlines for special projects.


Job Expectations / Working Conditions:

• Work in an office environment at a desk for extended periods using a computer.

• Occasional travel may be required.

• Overtime may be necessary to meet deadlines, especially during month-end and year-end closings.
