Job description

Description Under general supervision, perform physical labor to establish and maintain outdoor Parks and Recreation properties to include landscaping and grounds maintenance of City of College Station cemeteries, parks and other landscaped areas such as the landscaped areas around parks and/or facility signs. Principal Duties Prune trees and other landscape materials in City of College Station parks and cemeteries to clear hazards. Perform watering, landscape planting and maintenance operations for City of College Station Cemeteries and Parks, landscaped areas and planting beds Plant annual color and nursery stock in sign beds and landscape area in the parks system, City ROW and on City property.

Assist in irrigation maintenance. Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of cemetery properties. Assist with preparing for special events as needed.

Inspect and conduct preventative and routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment. Participate in the maintenance of the horticulture system by operating a variety of equipment such as edgers, line trimmers, brush chippers and various other hand and power tools. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid State of Texas Driver's License. Preferred: Experience in landscape maintenance.

Possess a valid State of Texas Class "B" CDL. Supplemental Information SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Drug Screening: Due to the safety and/or security sensitive nature of this position, individuals shall be subject to pre-employment or pre-placement drug and/or controlled substance testing as outlined in City policy.
