Summary:
The Skilled Laborer - Cement Mason is responsible for preparing, placing, finishing, and repairing concrete surfaces on construction projects. This position requires experience in forming, pouring, leveling, according to project specifications and safety standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prepare and set forms for sidewalks, curbs, slabs, foundations, and other concrete structures,
• Mix, pour, and spread concrete using hand and power tools,
• Level and smooth concrete using screeds, floats, and trowels,
• Apply finishing techniques such as edging, jointing, and texturing,
• Monitor curing process to ensure proper hardening,
• Repair and patch damaged concrete surfaces,
• Install rebar, wire mesh, or other reinforcement materials,
• Operate tools and equipment safely (power trowels, saws, vibrators, etc.),
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and site plans,
• Follow supervisor instructions and job site safety requirements,
• Maintain tools and keep job site clean and organized,
• Must wear proper attire at all times including PPE,
• May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
• Additional duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in construction as a concrete finisher or cement masonry,
• Valid driver's license preferred,
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of concrete mixing, placement, and finishing techniques,
• Bilingual(English/Spanish) a plus but not required,
• Experience with commercial and/or residential concrete work,
• Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
• High School Diploma or GED required,
• Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
Working Conditions:
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday,
• Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist, throughout the workday,
• This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces,
• This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and the constant use of hands and arms,
• This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (e.g., glasses, contact lenses),
• Performing strenuous work for extended periods in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, and other inclement weather conditions,
• Work may be performed in environments with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and moving equipment.
