Job Description:
  • We are looking for a Network Engineer to join our intelligence program providing enterprise telecommunication support for a key government customer in Northern Virginia.
  • In this role, you will work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team supporting the U.S. Government. You will provide technical subject-matter expertise in network engineering and communications modeling, including Local Area Network (LAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), voice, and video requirements, designs, and orders.
  • You will need to understand how the overarching information security (INFOSEC) and communications security (COMSEC) requirements for the customer's network add complexity to this position.

The Engineer shall possess the following capabilites:
  • Performing a full range of complex network designs that incorporate multiple technologies and layers (such as LAN, WAN, operating systems, IOS, etc.) within a single enterprise network.
  • Evaluating new network technologies and providing recommendations to project managers regarding the integration into the existing network infrastructure.
  • Planning designs and configurations for integration into the enterprise network, utilizing an understanding of performance characteristics and network interconnect points to ensure effective integration and optimal network performance.
  • Providing engineering and design support for the creation and deployment of communication systems.
  • Researching existing technologies and applying Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) systems to develop network infrastructure for voice and data systems, using best practice security methodologies.
  • Integrating system design with network architecture to effectively meet customer requirements.
  • Performing post-design support, including installation, configuration, and Tier III/IV Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support for both enterprise- and field-deployed systems, encompassing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and system-level aspects.
  • Creating simulated networks for testing applications over low-bandwidth links, troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
  • Installing/configuring wide-area links using radio frequency (RF) communications (including satellite, cellular, and microwave).
  • Configuring, testing, and maintaining network infrastructure that connects to the enterprise architecture.
  • Familiarity with network intrusion detection systems.

Qualifications:
  • Nine (9) years of experience in network operations, telecommunications network design, or a similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field (additional work experience can replace degree)
  • Active security clearance with appropriate polygraph
  • Weapons Certification Required: Not required for hire, but must be willing and capable of becoming certified.
  • OCONUS TDY Required: Yes, up to 10% OCONUS travel, including hazard areas as required.
  • CONUS TDY Required: Yes, up to 10% CONUS travel, as required.
  • Certifications such as CCIE and MCSE
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Server administration and service-oriented system design.
  • Knowledge of VMWare ESX Server and virtual system architecture, to utilize Storage Area Network (SAN) technology.

Position requires active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph
