Now Hiring: Network Access Control (NAC) – Subject Matter Expert (SME) Network Engineer

Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned provider of cutting-edge IT and engineering solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer (SME Level) with deep expertise in Network Access Control (NAC) and CISCO network appliances. This role supports a mission-critical program for a key government client and offers the opportunity to lead the design and implementation of secure network access strategies in a high-impact, on-site environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage advanced NAC solutions using CISCO network devices, including load balancers, LINUX servers, and CISCO appliances
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot NAC policies, profiles, and enforcement mechanisms

  • Monitor network activity to detect, analyze, and mitigate potential security threats and vulnerabilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure NAC strategies align with enterprise network security objectives

  • Evaluate and recommend new NAC tools and vendors to enhance network protection
  • Provide expert-level technical support and mentorship to internal and external teams on NAC-related technologies and challenges
  • Stay informed on evolving network security best practices and emerging NAC technologies

Required Education & Experience
  • Minimum 16 years of relevant experience in network engineering
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • Proven Subject Matter Expert (SME) in network engineering with a specialized focus on network security and NAC

  • Extensive hands-on experience with CISCO technologies, including firewalls (e.g., Cisco FTD), routers, switches, and NAC tools
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and network protocols (TCP/IP, OSI model)

  • Experience translating complex security requirements into scalable, enterprise-grade NAC solutions

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) for NAC policy creation, profiling, and enforcement
