The Bartender at The Cellar at Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard is responsible for creating elevated guest experiences through exceptional beverage service, refined hospitality, and strong knowledge of wines, spirits, cocktails, and food pairings. This role supports the luxury guest experience by delivering warm, personalized service in a sophisticated wine country environment while maintaining operational excellence, cleanliness, and compliance with all alcohol service regulations.

The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, possesses strong beverage knowledge, and thrives in an intimate, upscale dining and tasting room atmosphere.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and service standards.ย 
  • Provide knowledgeable recommendations regarding wines, cocktails, spirits, and food pairings.ย 
  • Deliver attentive, personalized, and anticipatory guest service.ย 
  • Maintain full knowledge of rotating wine selections, specialty cocktails, and menu offerings.ย 
  • Accurately process guest orders through POS systems and handle cash and credit card transactions responsibly.ย 
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of the bar, lounge, and service areas.ย 
  • Monitor guest alcohol consumption and ensure compliance with Oregon liquor laws and responsible alcohol service practices.ย 
  • Restock bar inventory, garnishes, glassware, and supplies throughout service.ย 
  • Assist with inventory counts and beverage ordering as directed by leadership.ย 
  • Support special events, wine tastings, private dinners, and seasonal programming.ย 
  • Collaborate with culinary and service teams to ensure seamless guest experiences.ย 
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor consistent with luxury hospitality standards.ย 
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and food handling standards.ย 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.ย 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in upscale restaurant, hotel, winery, or luxury hospitality environments preferred.ย 
  • Strong knowledge of wines, spirits, classic cocktails, and beverage preparation techniques.ย 
  • Wine country or vineyard hospitality experience preferred.ย 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and guest engagement skills.ย 
  • Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.ย 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.ย 
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules as business demands require.ย 
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.ย 
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds safely.ย 
  • Must maintain current Oregon alcohol service certification and food handler certification.ย 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Willamette Valley wines and wine service standards.ย 
  • Experience with luxury boutique hotel or tasting room service.ย 
  • POS system experience preferred.ย
