A Cell Saver Technician operates a cell salvage machine during surgical procedures to collect, filter, and return a patient's own blood. This process helps reduce the need for donor blood transfusions, lowering the risk of complications. They work closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists to ensure effective blood management. Responsibilities include setting up equipment, monitoring blood collection, and maintaining sterile conditions.

What does a cell saver technician do?

As a Cell Saver Technician, your daily responsibilities include setting up, operating, and troubleshooting autotransfusion equipment to collect, process, and reinfuse blood lost during surgery. You will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and operating room staff to ensure efficient and sterile blood salvage procedures are followed. Additionally, you must accurately document your activities and maintain equipment in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
