Job description

Summary
The DAS Technician supports all aspects of DAS/Small Cell installations, including the construction and maintenance of sites. Your daily objectives will include ensuring that work is performed in accordance with all safety and quality guidelines and expectations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with a passion for technology and a commitment to excellence.
This is a safety-sensitive position.
Key Responsibilities
  • Safety First - Put safety first and production second. Always.
  • Install DAS equipment, including indoor and outdoor antennas, coaxial cable, and couplers.
  • Interpret blueprints, design drawings, and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot RF and fiber line issues.
  • Terminate coaxial cable.
  • Learn and perform line sweeps and PIM testing.
  • Maintain the project timeline and accurately report job status daily.
  • Take and tag pictures as needed.
  • Ensure that work is being performed in accordance with all safety and quality guidelines and expectations.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments through ongoing professional development.
  • Continue to work towards training and certifications for work-related jobs.
  • Ensure the highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
  • This job operates in a field environment. Must be in good physical condition with the ability to routinely bend, squat, climb, kneel, push, pull, lift 20-50lbs or more, lift in awkward positions, stand, and twist for extended periods.
  • Must be willing to travel out of market/state for up to several months at a time (90%).
  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes DOT physical, background check, and drug/alcohol testing and participate in the random testing program.
  • Must be willing to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
  • Must be able to work in various environments including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles. A commercial driver's license (CDL) is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications
Technical Skills:
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and be a valued member of the crew and the company.
  • Must be proficient in using RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers and power meters.
  • Must have familiarity with industry standards related to wireless communications (e.g., LTE, 5G, Wi-Fi).
  • Must be able to obtain a scissor lift certification or already have one.
  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, specs, testing procedures, etc.

Soft Skills:
  • Must be able to communicate at a high level in person, by phone, and by email with team members and clients.
  • Must be self-motivated with the desire to learn new things and project a positive attitude toward others in all work-related settings.
  • Must work in a team environment participating in tailboards throughout the day.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time and organization skills.
  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and carry out instructions.
  • Must be able to work on a team and independently as required.

Supervisory Requirements
  • None.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full-time position.
  • Workdays and hours are typically Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some overtime requirements.

Travel
  • Weekly travel is required for this position. Usually between 80 to 100% of the time.

Education and Experience
Required:
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).

Desired:
technical certifications in RF engineering, telecommunications, or electronics preferred.
  • experience in installing and troubleshooting Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS).
