Job description

Job Title: Assembly Production Associate

Shifts:

1st: 6:30AM-5PM Monday - Thursday

2nd: 7:30PM-6AM Monday - Thursday

Job Description

This role focuses on mechanical assembly and production work within engine and transmission departments in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing facility. You will perform hands-on assembly using power tools and hand tools, follow detailed work instructions on a computer, and support high-quality automotive manufacturing processes on a structured first-shift schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks on engine-side and transmission-side production lines, working with both larger engine components and smaller transmission parts.
  • Carry out sub-assembly work in the transmission department and engine-side assembly work in the engine department as assigned.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, DC tools, and tape measures safely and accurately to assemble parts according to specifications.
  • Read and follow blueprints, work instructions, and job tasks using a computer at the work station.
  • Work on a production and assembly line, meeting daily output goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in a structured four-step training process and follow guidance from team leads and supervisors.
  • Remain open to cross-training and learning different jobs on the production floor to support multiple areas as needed.
  • Lift parts and materials up to 30 pounds and stand on your feet for up to 10 hours with minimal sitting.
  • Follow all plant rules, including no cell phone or earbud use on the production floor and use of designated areas for emergencies.
  • Communicate all absences and schedule issues promptly with your team lead using the contact information provided on the first day.
  • Adhere to safety requirements by consistently wearing required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and steel-toe shoes.
  • Support a reliable production schedule by maintaining consistent attendance and having dependable transportation to and from the facility.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including the attendance point system outlined in the employee handbook.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in assembly manufacturing, with 2+ years preferred.
  • Experience in production, general labor, or general production work in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic mechanical tools safely and effectively.
  • Comfort working on an assembly line performing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or work instructions related to assembly tasks.
  • Basic computer skills to access and read job tasks at the work station.
  • Capability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for 10-hour shifts with minimal sitting.
  • Willingness to work mandatory overtime on Fridays when required.
  • Reliable transportation to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to comply with plant rules, including no cell phone or earbud use on the production floor.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in automotive manufacturing environments
  • Experience with DC tools and other production tools used in mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with wire harness work in an assembly setting.
  • Comfort working with tape measures and other basic measurement tools.
  • Openness to cross-training and performing different jobs across engine and transmission departments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
