Responsibilities:

The Application Architect will support Barrow Wise's WMATA project and perform the following duties:

  • Develop current and future state application architectures, including but not limited to business transformation, identifying potential risks and opportunities, capturing the rationale for architecture design decisions, negotiating conflicting requirements, improving architectural documentation quality, and facilitating clear articulation architectural artifacts (Business, Information, Application, Infrastructure, Integration, Security etc.) recommendations to ensure value driven sustainable Architectural perspectives
  • Apply experience in leading, managing, architecting, designing, installing, configuring administering the Enterprise Architecture tools and technology platform
  • Apply industry standard architectural frameworks (such as FEAF, TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) to the WMATA enterprise to guide and update the architectural baselines within the enterprise
  • Follow industry standards and best practices to enable effective review process for a multitude of technology paradigm within transit industry and alignment with proposed enterprise data center technology and framework
  • Apply design principles based on Software defined Networks/Application aware network
  • Participate in the strategic discussions and associated architecture building blocks review processes
  • Analyze and review business capability architecture and translate it into an effective information architecture, features, functionalities, etc.
  • Translate user behavior into structured elements, attributes, process workflows, user scenarios, storyboards etc. for Enterprise information systems - PeopleSoft, Maximo, Kronos, Hyperion, Hastus, Trapeze, etc.
  • Ensure business, functional, technical and information processes are reviewed and validated to meet the enterprise expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

An Ideal Candidate has:

  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10 years' experience as an enterprise architect using the standard architectural framework
  • Enterprise Architecture certification (CEA, TOGAF)
  • Experience developing business capability, information, and data architecture
  • Experience with enterprise architecture repositories and tools (Abacus)
  • Experience interviewing and documenting stakeholder inputs to enterprise architecture projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to perform basic financial analysis of business processes
  • Great with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio
  • Proven ability to implement IT governance process improvements
  • Perform high caliber qualitative and quantitative analyses
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the deliverables listed above
  • Experience in the transit industry
  • Ability to mentor, collaborate and coordinate with peers, customers, and stakeholders
