Azure DevOps Architect / Technical Lead (Contract)

Location: Remote (Atlanta, GA preferred)

Duration: 6-Month Contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps Architect / Technical Lead to lead the design, implementation, and deployment of a large-scale Azure cloud infrastructure and disaster recovery solution. This individual will play a key role in architecting Azure infrastructure, implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), modernizing CI/CD pipelines, and enabling a seamless cloud failover strategy.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in Azure architecture, Kubernetes, DevOps automation, Terraform, and cloud migration initiatives, with experience building highly available, enterprise-scale environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and deploy Azure Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Architect and implement Azure networking, egress controls, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Container Registry (ACR), Azure Key Vault, and Azure data storage services.
  • Design and implement data replication strategies from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to Azure utilizing technologies such as:
    • Change Data Capture (CDC)
    • Logical Replication
    • Change Streams
    • Other appropriate replication methodologies based on data store requirements.
  • Design and implement DNS-independent traffic routing and failover mechanisms to support disaster recovery within Azure.
  • Deploy, configure, and optimize Apigee Hybrid within an Azure environment.
  • Enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated application deployments into Azure.
  • Develop a Proof of Concept (POC) application demonstrating:
    • Data store abstraction
    • Pub/Sub abstraction
    • Disaster recovery architecture
    • Deployment to Development and Staging environments
  • Produce comprehensive technical documentation, architecture documentation, and formal knowledge transfer for all Infrastructure as Code (IaC) assets.
  • Collaborate with architects, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in Cloud Architecture, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering.
  • Extensive experience architecting and deploying Azure cloud environments.
  • Expert-level experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
    • Azure Container Registry (ACR)
    • Azure Key Vault
    • Azure Networking
    • Azure Storage Services
  • Experience designing disaster recovery and high-availability cloud architectures.
  • Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or comparable DevOps platforms.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud-to-cloud data migration strategies.
  • Experience deploying and supporting Apigee Hybrid.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
  • Experience with hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Background in disaster recovery planning and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of networking, security, identity management, and cloud governance.
  • Azure certifications (Solutions Architect Expert, DevOps Engineer Expert, or similar) are highly preferred.
