Biological Materials Handler - Logistical Support

What You'll Do…

As a Biological Materials Handler supporting a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) contract, you'll provide logistics and shipping support for biological materials in a non-laboratory capacity. In this role, you'll be responsible for coordinating domestic and international shipments, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining accurate documentation, and responding promptly to shipping requests. Your work will help ensure biological materials are transported safely, accurately, and on time in support of public health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Expected Outcomes

  • Regulatory-Compliant Shipping Support – Support inbound and outbound shipments of biological materials by verifying permits, declarations, and packaging requirements in accordance with applicable domestic and international regulations.
  • International Shipping Coordination – Provide guidance on international shipping requirements for biological materials, working closely with the CDC shipping office to ensure compliance and timely execution.
  • Accurate Packing & Documentation – Ensure correct biological materials and viruses are packed in each shipment, complete all required shipping paperwork, and verify accuracy prior to release.
  • Shipment Tracking & Recordkeeping – Track shipments, maintain shipping records, and upload all required documentation into the VSDB shipping database to support audit readiness and traceability.
  • Operational Responsiveness & Support – Respond promptly to shipping requests, log and forward invoices for payment in a timely manner and support smooth coordination across internal and external stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics coordination, shipping support, laboratory operations support, or a regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting shipment of biological materials or regulated goods.
  • Familiarity with international shipping regulations or work with government agencies.
  • Experience using shipment tracking databases or document management systems.

Compensation & Work Environment

  • Salary Range: $55,000 - $70,000, dependent on experience.
  • Environment: Work will be performed in a professional office or operational support environment in coordination with laboratory and shipping personnel at the CDC Roybal Campus in Atlanta, Georgia.
