As a design-build leader, our team has constructed and maintained mechanical systems for a wide variety of high-profile clients, including hospitals, data centers, manufacturers, hotels, universities, office buildings, and more.
Job Summary
CCI Mechanical has an opportunity for an Estimator in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Job duties will include the following:
  • Ensure all hard-copy and electronic documents received and generated during the bidding process are filed, stored, and readily retrievable, in compliance with company document control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain electronic file storage portal for vendors and subcontractors to access bidding documents.
  • Analyze plans, specifications, RFPs, RFQ's and other documentation for population of estimates/proposals.
  • Perform take-off of mechanical HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
  • Routinely communicate with vendors and subcontractors to coordinate timely receipt of proposals. Obtain cost estimates from vendors and subcontractors; evaluate vendor and subcontractor scopes of work for estimates.
  • Utilize current estimate software to input vendor/subcontractor proposals and labor, material and equipment estimates
  • Ability to draft detailed proposals/scope letters.
  • Follow awarded contracts, as assigned. Work may include estimating additional work items (value engineering, change orders, procuring material, equipment etc.) if required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Establishes the following items for estimating projects:
    • Prepare take-offs and price estimates
    • Obtain scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
    • Prepare accurate sheet metal, piping, and labor estimates.
    • Ability to review plan and specifications and provide value engineering for Mechanical Systems.
    • Assist in developing detailed lists of qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions to effectively communicate our budget assumptions to the client.
    • Understand and contribute to risk and contingency assessments. Ensure quality while submitting more comprehensive alternative solutions for client.
    • Assist in estimate reviews with construction and preconstruction teams.
    • Establish and maintain good client/vendor/subcontractor relationships at all times.
    • Provide input on productivity factors
    • Coordinate, attend, and lead if necessary, the following meetings
    • Estimate Review(s)
    • Attend turnover meetings
    • Practice and adhere to the "CCI Way"
    • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 5+ years experience working in Mechanical HVAC/Plumbing construction industry as a craftsperson
  • Proficient in mechanical estimating software, QuoteSoft/Express preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; basic calculations and formula comprehension
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Communication - communicates clearly and concisely in verbal and written form.
  • Relationships - establishes and maintains long-term relationships, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations
  • Interpersonal skills - able to work effectively with other employees, supervisors, and external parties
  • Policies & Procedures - demonstrates knowledge and understanding of organizational policies, procedures and systems
  • Read and interpret contract documents and provide feedback for constructability, value engineering, and quality control.
  • Basic skills - able to perform basic mathematical calculations, balance and reconcile figures, punctuate properly, spell correctly and transcribe accurately
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the mechanical and plumbing construction, such as commercial buildings, hospitals, data centers, food processing and manufacturing facilities.
  • Ability to read and understand engineered drawings, specifications, RFQ s, RFP s and bid documents as related to the Mechanical HVAC and plumbing trades.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote compliant projects within Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control all aspects of the bidding process.
  • Ability to work with the customers to find mutually satisfactory solutions to difficult issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, PowerPoint, Project and Word.
