Job Duties
The Commonwealth Center for Children and Adolescents, aa psychiatric hospital, is seeking experienced nurses to fill the RN II position.
CCCA offers up to a $25,000 Bonus for Registered Nurses that are new to state service and remain with the facility for 2 years.
• $15,000 sign-on bonus will be awarded to new hires to state service with a one-year written agreement required.
• An additional $10,000 retention bonus will be awarded to new hires. The retention bonus will be paid out one year after hire date and require a one-year written agreement.
Above bouses are available to Registered Nurse that are new to DBHDS or have not worked for at least one year for Department of Behavior Health Developmental Services (DBHDS).
The mission of CCCA is to serve those children and adolescents admitted to the Center by providing psychiatric diagnostic, evaluation, and treatment services of the highest quality attainable at a reasonable cost to the Commonwealth in coordination with the family, community services, and the professional community. The Center's services are provided to Virginia's youth toward the goal of improvement in their lives and development of their fullest potential.
The Mission of the CCCA Nursing Department is to skillfully assess children for medical and mental health concerns when admitted for acute psychiatric care. The Registered Nurse responsibility is to report accurate information to the psychiatrist, who will then give direction to the RNs regarding appropriate medication and treatment regime to put into place for the patient.

Minimum Qualifications

Effective communication both verbal & written. Ability to participate in an interdisciplinary team. Ability to lead
educational groups. Ability to assess, plan, implement, & evaluate patient care utilizing knowledge of
pharmacology, psychiatric disorders, AND physical, psychological, & social needs of the psychiatric adolescent
or child. Competent with TOVA, CPR and knowledge of lab values for children & adolescents. Basic computer
skills. Ability to apply knowledge to meet child & adolescent needs in an inpatient psychiatric setting. Act as a
resource person to communicate knowledge of the nursing process to other disciplines, community groups, &
schools of nursing. Walking and/or standing for up to eight (8) hours or more. Bending & lifting. Ability to use
TOVA techniques. May be exposed to aggressive patients. Ability to work scheduled shifts and overtime hours or shifts as required.
