Title: Senior Abacus Network Architect / OT Network Architect
Location: New York City, NY
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Network Architect with strong Operational Technology (OT) experience to lead the design, architecture, modeling, modernization, and support of mission-critical OT network infrastructure.
The ideal candidate will have experience designing highly available and resilient network architectures across core, distribution, and edge environments, supporting systems such as CCTV, Public Address (PA), CBTC, Bus Radio, power systems, cybersecurity infrastructure, and other train/bus operational systems.
This role will work closely with Networking, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Operations, and Procurement teams to develop secure, scalable, compliant, and cost-effective OT solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, modeling, and long-term planning of OT network components, including core, distribution, and edge devices.
  • Architect and support highly available, resilient network infrastructure for 24x7 operational environments.
  • Support OT systems including CCTV, PA systems, CBTC, Bus Radio, power, cybersecurity, and transportation operational systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to operations teams on OT network projects.
  • Design solutions addressing OT cybersecurity, operational continuity, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate OT and IT environments while maintaining strict network segmentation and security controls.
  • Develop and maintain network standards, architecture patterns, reference models, and technical documentation.
  • Lead network modernization initiatives, including upgrades and replacement of legacy systems.
  • Evaluate innovative networking technologies and solutions with a focus on ROI, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Capture and analyze maintenance and network performance information to support continuous improvement.
  • Lead and coordinate OT network solutions and present architecture strategies and recommendations to management.
  • Work collaboratively with Networking, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Operations, and Procurement teams.
  • Participate in strategic planning sessions, network strategy discussions, and solution design workshops.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
  • Extensive experience as a Senior Network Architect, OT Network Architect, Network Solutions Architect, or Industrial Network Architect.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Operational Technology (OT) networks and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Advanced knowledge of network architecture, design, modeling, and administration.
  • Strong experience designing core, distribution, and edge network architectures.
  • Experience with highly available, scalable, resilient, and 24x7 operational environments.
  • Strong understanding of network segmentation and IT/OT integration.
  • Experience with network virtualization and wireless technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of OT cybersecurity principles and secure network architecture.
  • Experience modernizing legacy network infrastructure and operational systems.
  • Excellent technical documentation, communication, and presentation skills.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience in rail, transit, transportation, or other critical infrastructure environments.
  • Experience with CBTC, CCTV, Public Address systems, Bus Radio, train/bus operations, or transportation communications systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Abacus or other Enterprise Architecture Modeling tools.
  • Experience with scenario planning, impact analysis, architecture modeling, and reference architecture development.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity and industry standards such as NIST, IEC 62443, or NERC CIP.
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, routing/switching, firewalls, VLAN, VRF, BGP, OSPF, SDN, or related networking technologies.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a senior-level OT Network Architect who combines advanced network architecture expertise with experience supporting mission-critical operational environments, particularly transportation or industrial systems. Strong experience with Abacus/enterprise architecture modeling, OT cybersecurity, IT/OT segmentation, and legacy modernization will be highly valued.
