Job description


Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC), a not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization, treats and prevents substance use disorder, as well as an array of other related problems. Since 1969, FGC's comprehensive programming has educated and guided individuals toward their full potential as productive members within their own families and our society. Family Guidance Centers, Inc seeks to support the behavioral health of individuals, families, and communities through our commitment to innovation, accountability, and compassionate care to facilitate positive, lasting change.
Essential Duties:
  • Develop patient treatment plans and conducts continued stay review based on research, clinical experience, and patients' histories - uses assessment programs on computer.
  • Provide patient intakes (biopsychosocial assessment), treatment planning, case coordination, staffing, aftercare planning and discharge with individual and group therapy for a full spectrum of referral sources.
  • Provide direct clinical service to a full caseload, achieving a minimum of 20 billable hours weekly.
  • Intervene as an advocate for patients or patients to resolve emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with, and supporting patients (written authorization by patient must be obtained - refer to Federal Confidentiality Regulations for substance abuse treatment).
  • Maintain at least 50% of work time in face-to-face counseling, contacts.

Schedule: Monday - Friday (6:30a - 3:00p)
Start Date: ASAP
Work Location: 310 W. Chicago Ave., Chicago, IL
Pay Rate: $43,000 - $ 55,000 per year; based on certification and experience

Experience and Skills
Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma / GED required; Experience in/with substance use, detox programs, medication-assisted treatment, behavioral healthcare and/or community relations encouraged to apply.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: IAODAPCA Certified Alcohol and Other Drugs Counselor (CADC) required, or able to obtain within allotted time of hire date.
