What is a CBD writer?

A CBD writer is a professional who creates content focused on cannabidiol (CBD), including articles, blogs, product descriptions, and educational materials. Their work often involves explaining the benefits, uses, legal issues, and scientific research related to CBD products. CBD writers must stay up-to-date with evolving regulations and scientific findings to ensure accuracy and compliance. They may work for CBD brands, marketing agencies, or as freelance writers specializing in health and wellness topics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CBD writer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CBD Writer, you need strong research abilities, excellent writing skills, and a solid understanding of CBD, cannabis, and related regulations, often supported by a background in science, health, or journalism. Familiarity with SEO tools, content management systems like WordPress, and compliance guidelines is typically required. Attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to translate complex information into engaging, accessible content are crucial soft skills. These competencies ensure accurate, trustworthy content creation that educates readers and aligns with legal and industry standards.

What are some common challenges CBD writers face when researching and creating content?

CBD writers often encounter challenges related to rapidly changing regulations and scientific research. Ensuring content is both compliant with legal standards and accurate according to the latest studies requires diligent sourcing and frequent updates. Additionally, distinguishing credible information from marketing hype can be time-consuming, as the industry is saturated with unverified claims. Writers must also adapt their tone and language to educate and engage diverse audiences, from consumers to industry professionals.

Job description

Senior Director Atlanta, GA, US

Senior Corporate Counsel

Edible Brands® was launched in 2022 to bring together powerful, purpose‑led brands under one unified purpose: to enrich everyday life through celebration, nourishment, and wellness. Today, Edible Brands powers three bold and growing concepts across 700+ locations worldwide.

Our portfolio spans Edible Arrangements®, the iconic gifting brand; Rōti®, a Mediterranean‑inspired fast‑casual restaurant; edibles.com™, a trusted marketplace for low‑dosage THC & CBD wellness products; and BerryDirect®, our robust supply chain infrastructure. Together, these brands are fueled by The Edible Way—a set of employee‑driven values that keep us committed, collaborative, adaptable, results‑driven, and always ready to celebrate.

The Big Picture:

The Senior Corporate Counsel will serve as a key legal leader within Edible Brands, partnering directly with the Chief Legal Officer and senior leadership to drive a broad range of corporate and commercial legal matters. This includes technology and supply chain agreements, contract lifecycle management, data privacy compliance, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, and employment law. This role is designed for a seasoned attorney with the breadth, judgment, and executive presence to operate independently across practice areas—and the ambition to grow into broader legal leadership within the organization.

Collaborating across departments, the Senior Corporate Counsel will align legal strategy with business objectives and serve as a trusted advisor who translates complex legal issues into clear, actionable solutions—while mentoring and supervising paralegals and legal administrative staff.

Location: This position will work onsite out of our Corporate Office in Sandy Springs, GA Monday – Friday.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities:
  • Lead the negotiation, drafting, and review of complex commercial agreements, with particular emphasis on technology, SaaS, and supply chain contracts; oversee the company’s contract lifecycle management platform (including Ironclad)
  • Own the company’s compliance posture across applicable laws and regulations, including data privacy frameworks (CCPA, GDPR, and emerging state laws), managing legal and regulatory risk across business units
  • Proactively identify and assess legal risks across the organization and develop strategies to mitigate them, serving as a pragmatic business partner to operational and commercial teams
  • Lead due diligence workstreams and provide independent legal counsel on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other strategic transactions from inception through close
  • Support the company’s litigation portfolio, directing external counsel and overseeing dispute resolution strategy; supervise and develop paralegals and legal administrative staff
What you bring:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the bar in Georgia or another US state with the ability to practice law in relevant jurisdictions
  • 5‑7 years of legal experience, with at least 3‑5 years in an in‑house counsel role; prior experience at a reputable law firm preferred; demonstrated experience in commercial transactions and general corporate matters
  • Proven track record of drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, including technology, SaaS, and supply‑chain agreements
  • Hands‑on experience supervising contract lifecycle management platforms; experience with Ironclad strongly preferred
  • Experience with data privacy laws and compliance frameworks (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) preferred; corporate generalist background with the ability to navigate across practices required
How you work:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues for non‑legal stakeholders and negotiate high‑stakes agreements
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguous or novel legal questions with sound judgment and a pragmatic, business‑minded approach
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to provide practical and strategic legal advice
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct

We are proud to be an EEO/AA employer. Applicants for employment are considered without regard to race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, age, and disability, or veteran status.
