What are Cath Lab Scrub Techs?

Cath Lab Scrub Techs, also known as Cardiovascular Technologists or Scrub Technicians, are healthcare professionals who assist physicians during cardiac catheterization procedures and other cardiovascular interventions. They prepare the sterile field, handle surgical instruments, and help ensure that all necessary equipment is ready and functioning. Their role is crucial in maintaining a sterile environment and supporting the medical team to deliver safe, effective patient care during complex heart procedures.

Job description

About Integra Vascular

Integra Vascular provides patient-focused, preventative vascular care to the people of our communities and to long-term residents of medical facilities nationwide. Our mission is to minimize unnecessary wounds, hospitalizations, and the need for patient travel through early diagnosis and exceptional onsite care. Guided by our commitment to the highest caliber of vascular treatment, we strive to maximize patient comfort, mobility, and quality of life through advanced, minimally invasive procedures.

Position Overview

The Scrub Technician plays a critical role in supporting vascular surgeons and the clinical team during complex endovascular and interventional procedures. Working in our Office-Based Laboratory (OBL), the Scrub Tech assists with procedures such as angiograms, venograms, prostate artery embolization (PAE), genicular artery embolization (GAE), and other minimally invasive vascular interventions. This position ensures the sterile field is properly maintained, all instruments are prepared and accounted for, and that the surgical team is supported in achieving safe and efficient case flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain a sterile surgical field for all vascular and interventional procedures.

  • Anticipate surgeon needs and provide appropriate instruments and supplies throughout the case.

  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of procedure rooms, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and properly functioning.

  • Handle surgical instruments and devices in accordance with aseptic technique.

  • Monitor and maintain the integrity of sterile supplies and report any issues immediately.

  • Assist in transferring patients to and from the procedure table as directed.

  • Support intraoperative imaging procedures, including manipulation of C-arm, guidewires, and catheters under physician supervision.

  • Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps before, during, and after each case.

  • Assist with stocking, inventory control, and reprocessing of surgical instruments and equipment.

  • Uphold all infection control, OSHA, and facility safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with nursing and physician teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification (recommended but not required).

  • Minimum 2 years of scrub experience, preferably in vascular, interventional radiology, cath lab, or related procedural settings.

  • Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation for endovascular procedures.

  • Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary surgical environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Why Join Integra Vascular

  • Work alongside leading vascular surgeons and an experienced procedural team.

  • Participate in cutting-edge vascular interventions in a modern, office-based lab setting.

  • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.

  • Monday–Friday schedule with no overnight shifts.
