Electrophysiology Tech III - Cardiac Cath Lab

Position Details: Hourly Base Rate: $52.75 - $67.14 Hours: Days Hours Per Week: 40

Job Summary:

  • Under the general supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, assists physicians as required, teaches and trains other technologists and nurses, and does related work as assigned.
  • The Electrophysiology Tech III (EP Tech III) provides assistance to hospital medical staff by operating, maintaining and preparing all Cardiovascular equipment needed for Electrophysiology studies.
  • The EP Tech III assists the physician with all procedures in the EP Lab to include but not limited to catheter ablations, left ventricular mapping, AIDC implantation, cardiac catheterization, Swan-Ganz insertion, temporary and permanent pacemaker insertions, physiologic pressure monitoring.
  • The EP Tech III integrates knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, electrical technique and interventions being performed to monitor the for potential/actual physiological and behavioral changes intra-procedure and post procedure and intervenes appropriately.
  • The EP Tech III will also assist hospital medical staff in support and maintain competency in the following specialties: Interventional Cardiology / Vascular (diagnostic angiograms, balloon angioplasty, stent placement and atherectomy), and one of the following specialties: 1. TAVR, 2. TCAR, 3. Endografts, 4. Hybrid Surgical, 5. Routine Interventional Radiology procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Rad Tech with current ARRT and Licensed in Radiography by the Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI).
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications upon hire.
  • Registered Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification preferred.
  • RCIS certification accepted based upon CL Manager discretion.
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in Electrophysiology (EP) lab.
  • Minimum 1-2 years recent experience in an invasive Cardiac Cath / Vascular /Hybrid and or Interventional Radiology is highly preferred.
  • Must have ability to work efficiently, responsibly, and in a team-oriented atmosphere with multiple work demands.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately in emergency situations that may arise in high risk procedures.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions and job specific competencies.
  • Knowledge of basic cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiac pharmacology and basic ECG interpretation skills.
  • Proficient in the operation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of all equipment in the interventional areas.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal relations skills and a high sensibility to the needs of others, including the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and their families, supervisors, peers, volunteers, and other customers.
