Job description

What we do
As a Network Intelligence Advisor, you will be a key technical lead within our Professional Services team, responsible for ensuring customers successfully leverage the Kentik solution to maximize value and transform their businesses. This is an individual contributor role focused on post-sales technical engagement and the delivery of professional services offerings after the initial customer onboarding is completed.
An ideal candidate will have the ability to build genuine, lasting relationships with our technical counterparts within our existing customers. Kentik Network Intelligence Advisors are not just a point of contact; they strive to become a trusted technical friend and advisor - the person our customers can rely on to help navigate their most complex network challenges and strategic initiatives.  This role serves as a "technical architect" for our customers, helping them integrate Kentik into their unique environments, solve complex technical problems, and unlock advanced use cases. An ideal candidate will also bring a "do-whatever-it-takes" attitude to help customers derive maximum value from the Kentik platform.
What you'll do
  • Lead and execute technical professional services projects, ensuring successful implementation of advanced features and integrations
  • Provide expert guidance on network observability, helping customers design and optimize their infrastructure using Kentik insights
  • Proactively dig into customer usage patterns and network data to uncover untapped opportunities to provide value. You will identify where the customer can gain more visibility and recommend specific features or workflows to help them achieve their goals
  • Help customers integrate Kentik with their own in-house tools, systems, and workflows, utilizing APIs and scripting where necessary
  • Conduct technical check-ins to maintain high success rates, share new features/roadmap, and identify new opportunities for customers to expand their use of the platform
  • Act as a champion for customer requirements, channeling detailed technical feedback and feature requests to the Product Management organization
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to expand technical documentation and collateral to help other customers succeed
  • Partner with Customer Success, Product, and Engineering teams to deliver results and ensure alignment with customer goals
What you'll bringStudies have shown that some candidates tend to apply to jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. We encourage you to apply if you meet most of the criteria - even if you don't match all of the qualifications, your skills and experience could be valuable in this role!
  • 5+ years of experience in a high-tech solutions engineering, professional services, or network engineering role
  • Must be located on the U.S. East Coast
  • Strong demonstrable understanding of network and application protocols, including Netflow, BGP, SNMP, DNS, TCP/IP, and HTTP, and their use for infrastructure design and operations
  • Proven experience managing Cisco/Juniper routers and Linux servers
  • Familiarity with network observability or monitoring suites (e.g., Kentik, Netscout Arbor, Splunk, Dynatrace, Catchpoint, etc.)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct deep technical conversations with staff-level engineers and architects
  • Understanding of DDoS attacks and basic mitigation methods.
  • Technical curiosity - you have a drive to constantly ask "how" or "why" and a relentless pursuit of new knowledge and best practices
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time to interact with customers at their offices or at industry events

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with Python, Bash, Ansible, etc. for automation and tool integration
  • In-depth knowledge of one or more public cloud architectures (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with technologies such as LibreNMS, Elastic, Grafana, and Prometheus
  • Database and/or SQL experience
