As a Store Sales Associate, your role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities aimed at enhancing customer experience and driving sales efficiency. Job Summary
The Store Sales Associate provides excellent customer service, supports store sales, maintains merchandise presentation, processes transactions, and contributes to a clean, organized, and profitable store environment.
When assigned to a Lead Shift, the associate also supports the Manager or Assistant Manager by helping coordinate shift activity, assigning tasks, supporting team members, assisting with opening/closing responsibilities, and escalating customer or operational issues as needed.
Essential Job Duties
Customer Service and Sales
  • Greet and direct customers in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Answer customer questions about products, promotions, discounts, and special offers.
  • Identify customer needs and recommend products or solutions to support the shopping experience.
  • Upsell through appropriate product recommendations and maintain awareness of new products and promotions.
  • Promptly resolve customer concerns when able and escalate complaints or sensitive issues to store leadership when necessary.

Store Operations and Merchandising
  • Organize merchandise on shelves and restock merchandise when low or empty.
  • Assist with back stockroom organization and set up of merchandise displays on the sales floor.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sales floor, checkout area, and back stock area.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, pricing, labeling, and replenishing merchandise.
  • Perform routine inventory counts and support inventory management activities as directed.

Cash Handling and Administrative Support
  • Operate the cash register and accurately process cash, check, credit card payments
  • Complete store administrative tasks as directed by the Store Manager or Assistant Manager.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, safety expectations, and loss prevention practices.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned based on business needs.
  • Maintain awareness of loss prevention practices and immediately report suspicious activity, safety concerns, inventory discrepancies, or policy violations to store leadership.
  • Follow all cash handling, inventory control, and asset protection procedures.

Lead Shift Responsibilities - If applicable, as scheduled Lead Shift
  • Lead responsibilities are performed only when the associate is scheduled or assigned to a Lead Shift. Associates will receive the applicable lead shift differential only for hours worked in an assigned Lead Shift, in accordance with current company pay practices.
  • Support the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in coordinating the daily flow of work during the assigned shift.
  • Help assign tasks to team members to support efficient store operations, customer service, merchandising, replenishment, and cleanliness.
  • Lead by example by maintaining a positive, professional, and customer-focused presence on the sales floor.
  • Assist with store opening and closing responsibilities in accordance with company procedures.
  • Escalate employee relations matters, policy concerns, safety incidents, cash handling issues, and customer complaints to the Store Manager, Assistant Manager, or appropriate leadership.
  • This role does not independently approve HR, payroll, leave, accommodation, discipline, or termination decisions.

Required Education, Certifications and Work-Related Experience
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-2 years of relevant retail, customer service, or sales experience preferred.
  • Prior retail sales experience, sales associate experience, or similar customer-facing experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience supporting opening/closing, task coordination, training, or shift support is a plus for Lead Shift assignments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with customers and team members.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a positive attitude and desire to resolve issues promptly.
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities at the same time.
  • Dependability, punctuality, and professional conduct are required.
  • Basic math skills and ability to accurately process transactions.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of inventory stocking procedures preferred.
  • Ability to support team members, assign tasks, and communicate expectations when scheduled for Lead Shifts.
  • Interest in Daiso products is a plus.
