Auto Case Packer Operator

Department: Production

Reports To: Production Supervisor


Position Summary

The Auto Case Pacerk Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of packaging equipment in a high-volume tortilla manufacturing environment. This role ensures product is packaged accurately, meets quality standards, and production targets are achieved with minimal downtime.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Machine Operation

  • Set up, operate, monitor, and adjust packaging equipment on tortilla production lines.
  • Ensure proper feed, alignment, sealing, weighing, and labeling of finished products.
  • Perform changeovers for different products, bag sizes, or packaging formats.
  • Run machinery according to daily production schedules while adhering to quality standards.

Quality & Compliance

  • Inspect packaged product for defects, package integrity, weight accuracy, and labeling accuracy.
  • Adhere to food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including HACCP, allergen control, and sanitation procedures.
  • Report quality issues to supervisors and assist in root-cause identification.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Conduct routine machine checks and minor corrective adjustments to maintain continuous operations.
  • Identify mechanical issues and escalate to maintenance teams when required.
  • Clean packaging equipment following standardized procedures at shift end.

Safety

  • Follow all plant and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
  • Wear required PPE (hair net, gloves, safety shoes, etc.) and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior experience operating packaging machinery in food manufacturing (tortilla/bakery experience preferred).
  • Experience with automated packaging systems is a plus.

Skills & Abilities

  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read basic production documents and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Strong teamwork, communication skills, and reliability.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
