What are CASAC Interns?

CASAC Interns are individuals in the process of becoming Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselors (CASAC) in New York State. They have completed the required education and training, and are working under supervision to gain hands-on experience with clients. The intern status allows them to develop practical counseling skills and fulfill the clinical hours needed for full CASAC certification. During this period, they provide support and counseling to individuals struggling with substance use disorders, always under the guidance of a qualified professional.

As a CASAC Intern, you can expect to work under the direct supervision of a credentialed substance abuse counselor or clinical supervisor. Regular supervision sessions are a key component of the internship, providing guidance on case management, counseling techniques, and ethical considerations.
