We are seeking a staff writer to contribute deeply reported features, along with essays, commentary, and analysis. The ideal candidate is an experienced journalist who can write with rigor, depth, and clarity on a range of subjects and has a demonstrated ability to produce work that is not only timely but also enduring.

Responsibilities

  • Report and write features, essays, commentary, and analysis.

  • Pitch original story ideas and respond to editorial assignments.

  • Collaborate with newsletter, social media, video, and other digital teams.

  • Collaborate with editors throughout the editorial process, from story development to publication.

  • Work closely with copy editors, fact-checkers, legal counsel, and production staff to meet deadlines and rigorous standards.

  • Maintain high ethical standards in reporting and writing.
