What we need:

The Director of Design for Residential Soft Surfaces is a business leader who is responsible for overseeing design strategy and process. ย This role leads the design team that focuses on the creation of innovative color and design solutions. This role will touch all residential carpet products across Karastan, Godfrey Hirst, and Mohawk brands and all channels, including Retail, Home Centers, Builder, and Multi-Family.ย  This role involves strategic planning, team management, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality design solutions that align with business goals and user needs.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive design strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Key leader for color and pattern innovation in development.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate design into the broader organizational strategy and with management to implement best practices.
  • Collaborate with product management, engineering, marketing, and other departments to ensure alignment between design efforts and overall product and business goals.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of design projects.
  • Ensure projects are on schedule, within scope, and meet the highest quality standards.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and design innovations.
  • Integrate relevant design trends into the organization's design approach and operate as a thought leadership category expert internally and externally.
  • Ensure the highest quality and consistency of design deliverables.
  • Implement robust design review processes and quality assurance measures.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reports on the performance and impact of the design function.
  • Perform other duties as needed.ย 

What you have:ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent education and/or experience. ย ย 
  • 10+ years' relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience. ย ย 
  • 5+ years of management experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of carpet products and flooring design software.
  • Experience and expertise with color, must be able to pass a colorblind test.ย
