What to Expect with this Position:
Schutte Excavating is located in Greensburg, IN.ย  Our company has been steadily growing over the last several years and are looking to expand our workforce.ย  Schutte Excavatingโ€™s focus is on Community Development Block Grant Projects, Storm Sewer Projects, General Construction Management, Concrete Construction, Site Development.ย  We travel within a 60-mile radius of Greensburg.ย  Current position we are looking to fill is rough carpenter. This position would encompass the ability to read and interpret blueprint and drawings and determine specific materials and measurements needed for a project.ย  ย The 3+ years of strong carpentry experience.
Some specific duties of a rough carpenterย may include:
  • Comprehending and completing tasks given to you in an efficient manner.
  • Rough carpentry skillsย including cutting and shaping wood using hand and power tools.
  • Manual physicalย labor for 8+ hours a day, lifting 25+ lbs frequently, bending, twisting, etc.ย and ability to adapt to changing weather conditions.
  • Hand digging, raking gravel, setting forms, use ofย hand tools.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area, staying busy
  • Be safety conscious.
To be successful in this role, a rough carpenter should have the ability to work with precision. They should also have good problem-solving skills and the ability to work well in a team.
The physical demands of the job may require the ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods of time, and work in a variety of weather conditions.
Required to hold a valid driver's license.ย ย

  • What are some of the specific projects you do?ย We do commercial projects like laying sewer and sanitary pipes, running water lines, and lots of concrete work (sidewalks, curbs, roads, and decorative). We also move dirt and use GPS for grading.
