Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for an Account Manager to help us grow our Furniture & Bedding division in the Midwest. This position is responsible for building and maintaining business relationships with furniture and bedding clients in the Midwest territory through prospecting, planning and effective communication.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As the Account Manager, you will be expected to develop and maintain working relationships with new and existing customers to ensure that they receive exceptional service and identify new sales opportunities. Timely follow up and problem resolution for the company and its customers is required, along with effective time management and travel when necessary. This is a remote opportunity working from a home office.

Your additional responsibilities as Account Manager will include:

  • Know and understand Carpenter Co.’s products and capabilities
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with new and existing customers to ensure that they receive exceptional service and identify new sales opportunities.
  • Forecast, track, and analyze historical and forecasted sales while understanding and analyzing the competitive marketplace.
  • Collaborate with plant personnel, R&D, and management to develop solutions for customer issues.
  • Partner with customers to develop innovative products applicable to the market segment.
  • Complete and submit weekly reports, such as call reports, expense reports and car mileage reports.
  • Travel to visit customers weekly, attend events or tradeshows as needed

Skills/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or other related discipline
  • 3+ years of proven business to business sales
  • Experience in Salesforce
  • Prior experience in bedding, furniture, or foam knowledge preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments
  • Ability to thrive in a competitive sales environment dealing with a variety of customers at all levels of an organization
  • Proactive critical thinker and problem solver
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
  • This is a remote opportunity working from a home office. The territory for this position is in the Elkhart division. Therefore, the selected candidate must reside near Indiana, Ohio or Michigan.
