Job description

Carpenter Foreman 

 SUMMARY  

Mortenson is currently seeking a Carpenter Foreman that will provide oversight to project carpentry crews and coordinate, implement and supervise all self-performed work.   

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure proper IWP is in place and understood by the crew; examine blueprints to determine structure dimensions 
  • Lay out floor plans and cabinetwork using tape, framing square, and calipers 
  • Select and inspect materials and structural units (lumber, prefabricated doors, cabinets, paneling) for code compliance 
  • Determine sequence of fabrication, assembly, and erection activities; assign tasks to workers 
  • Inspect subcontractor work (ductwork, wiring, pipe installations) for specification conformance 
  • Install doors, build stairs, lay hardwood floors, and perform concrete and rough carpentry (hand set walls, footings, gang wall forms, structural concrete decks, slabs, columns, drywall) 
  • Perform finish carpentry (set door frames, hang doors, install hardware, toilet accessories, handrails, partitions, lockers, cabinets, countertops, wall paneling, coffered ceilings, running trim) 
  • Lead team members by example, offer coaching and feedback, build relationships with diverse individuals, and perform other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High School diploma or GED 
  • Completion of apprenticeship program 
  • Ability to work with precision, visualize solid objects from drawings, read plans, and operate equipment (table saws, radial arm saws, belt & disc sanders, drill presses, fall protection equipment, rigging, and form systems) 
  • Strong teamwork orientation, positive attitude, professional customer service skills, detail orientation, and effective communication including active listening and openness to diverse input and feedback 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience 
  • Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements 
  • *Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs.
