TITLE: Carpenter ย 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. The employee must be able to work independently and also in crews. ย 
2. Should have considerable knowledge of methods and materials, techniques and practices of the carpenter trade. ย 
3. Should have a working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade. ย 
4. The ability to make time and material estimates. ย 
5. The ability to read and work from blueprints, sketches and oral instructions. ย 
6. The ability to handle all the tools and materials of the carpenter trade. ย 
7. An overall complete knowledge of the carpentry trade. ย 
8. High school graduation or its equivalent. ย 
9. Four years or more apprenticeship plus three or four years of experience as a journeyman carpenter.ย  Must have an approved certified card. ย 
10. Must provide basic tools. ย 
11. Preference for this position will be given to the carpenter apprentice whom the Apprentice Committee has verified as successfully completing the apprenticeship program. ย 
12. Must possess a valid driver's license.

JOB GOAL:
Maintain and renovate the district's buildings in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with applicable building safety codes.
PERFORMANCEย RESPONSIBILITIES:
* 1. Does rough and finish carpenter work on buildings. ย 
* 2. Repairs doors and replaces wooden parts or fixtures on doors, cabinets, etc. ย 
* 3. Performs hand and bench work using band saw, planer, planing machines, electric drills, sanding machines, rip saws, joiners, cut-off saws, chisels, drill press, grinders, turning lathes, tentor machines, etc. ย 
* 4. Install and repair all flooring types (carpet, VCT, ceramic tile, etc,). ย 
* 5. Perform concrete, block, brick and mortar installation and repairs. ย 
* 6. Re-anchor door closers, auditorium seats, toilet partitions, gym equipment and steel plates on exit doors. ย 
* 7. Supervise carpenter apprentice, carpenter helpers and unskilled workers. ย 
* 8. Builds and repairs all types of school furniture and fixtures such as bookcases, shelves, desks, chairs, doors, cabinets, tables and moldings; repairs venetian blinds, window cords and drapes. ย 
* 9. Improves desks and tables by replacing wooden desk and table tops with formica tops, matches wood when making repairs and sands floors. ย 
*10. Ability to work independently and be able to achieve and maintain job productivity. ย 
*11. Make estimates of time and materials as assigned. ย 
ย ย 12. Maintain cleanliness of the carpenter shop in the maintenance building.ย  Works safely at all times. ย
