Royal Caribbean Group's Architecture and Design Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Landscape Architecture reporting to the Principal, Private Destinations
This position will be working onsite from Miami.
Position Summary:
As a member of the Product Development team in Private Destinations, the Project Architect in Landscape Architecture, will work in a team environment and be responsible for overseeing the landscape architectural aspects of the development of a design, production of the construction documents, and specifications.
As a member of the Product Development team in Private Destinations, the Project Architect in Landscape Architecture is responsible for overseeing and managing projects from conception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This role involves collaborating with project teams, coordinating with landscape architects and consultants, and providing strategic directions to achieve the project goals.
Coordinates siteworks efforts to ensure effective execution and serves as primary liaison in landscape architecture between third party consultants and ownership. Responsible for coordination of project siteworks efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects. Estimates fee, advises on the scope of work and reviews proposals and contracts on the most complex projects. The right candidate should thrive in working in a dynamic, team environment and work alongside the Product Development team to ensure the brand vision and goals are effectively manifested in design.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and Technical Excellence:
  • Oversee the design of large developments in hospitality, and commercial applications.
  • Own design management over single asset at a time for Private Destinations - Product Development
  • Participate in or lead the management of deliverables at all project phases.
  • Support RCI policies on project delivery, quality control, and safety
  • Have the skills to provide quick design mark-ups, alternative solutions for areas that need immediate responses.
  • Possess excellent multi-disciplinary technical knowledge.
  • Own and track design directions discussed at all meetings (including but not limited to; outside design team coordination meetings, internal team design discussions, leadership design reviews, executive design reviews)
  • Responsible for timely follow ups with design consultant with regards to design advancement and coordination with the required sub-consultant.
  • Provide input to "design tracker" file that tracks all design requests/decisions, dates, responsible party, and blockers
  • Review progress drawings with RCL project team to confirm conformance of design intent and material choices throughout all design phases (planning, concept, schematic, DD, CD's and CA).
  • Support of design related information to consultants pertaining to jurisdictional / municipal submissions. Including but not limited to: planning submissions, environmental impact, design reviews, permitting, and bidding
  • Have strong design abilities pertaining to: master planning, site planning, conceptual site design (plan, section, elevation, modeling), material selection, etc.
  • The Design Manager will report to the Principal of Planning / Director of Area Development
  • The Design Manager will collaborate with the Director of Design for guidance on RCL brand standards and design compliance within all design phases.

Communications:
  • Maintain client relationships.
  • Facilitate and hold team and client meetings.
  • Lead and inform the Project Team of changes and updates.
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to business practice managers
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information.

Leadership:
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
  • Remains engaged and knowledgeable regarding emerging industry practices.
  • Desire and ability to lead and contribute on multiple levels within the design process.

Teamwork:
  • Effectively utilize each team member to his/her fullest potential

  • Manage day-to-day consultant interaction, evaluate, and manage expectations.
  • Support and maintain lasting relationships with consultants.
  • Communicate effectively with consultants to identify needs, evaluate alternative solutions, and deliver value added services.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
Education and Experience
  • Professional graduate degree from an accredited Landscape Architecture program.
  • 5-8 years of experience in the development of large commercial and hospitality projects

Capabilities and Credentials
  • Support all aspects of the project development cycle from inception through to completion including client relations, proposal development and project delivery.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and coordinate building systems with multi-disciplined teams.
  • Ability to develop and present design concepts, as well as construction details.
  • Familiarity and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Sketchup, Lumion and Autodesk CAD / Revit BIM platforms with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of organizational skills with a detail-oriented focus and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work efficiently and be flexible to change.
  • Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and how they apply to the design.
