Registered Nurse (RN) - Nuclear Cardiac Cath Lab

Location: Fort Myers, Florida
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Non-Invasive Imaging
Schedule: Day Shift | Approximately 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM (No on-call, weekends, or shift differential.)
Patient Population: Primarily adults ages 50+
Setting: Outpatient Cardiology Practice

Job Summary

An established outpatient cardiology practice is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join its Non-Invasive Imaging Department. This role focuses on nuclear cardiac imaging and stress testing procedures in collaboration with cardiologists and imaging staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong cardiac assessment skills, experience with nuclear stress testing, proficiency in EKG interpretation, and excellent IV skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate patients and verify preparation requirements for nuclear and regular stress testing procedures

  • Start IVs and obtain informed consents prior to testing

  • Prepare patients for stress testing, including ECG lead placement, blood pressure monitoring, and pre-test documentation

  • Operate ECG machines and treadmills during cardiac stress testing

  • Monitor patients during testing and recognize/report cardiac dysrhythmias

  • Administer medications as directed by physicians

  • Communicate test results to patients and referring physicians

  • Maintain patient follow-up logs and accurate medical records

  • Assist with nursing clinic duties, triage, and authorizations as needed

  • Maintain crash cart readiness, including medication checks and defibrillator testing

  • Coordinate physician schedules and patient chart preparation

  • Collaborate with scheduling and nuclear medicine departments

  • Provide support to additional departments as assigned

Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program

Experience

  • Minimum 1-2 years of nuclear cardiac imaging IV puncture experience required

  • Prior stress lab experience required

  • Cardiac PET experience preferred

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active and clear Florida RN license

  • ACLS certification

  • BLS certification

  • ACSM certification preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong EKG interpretation skills

  • Excellent IV insertion skills

  • Knowledge of cardiac stress testing procedures and emergency response protocols

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced outpatient cardiology setting

  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
