Manager, Project Manager - Card HR Channels

As a Manager Project Manager within Card HR, you will guide high-priority projects that enable our Card Operations HR Business Partner team and support over 17,000 employees across the Channels organization. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to deliver exceptional experiences that shape the direction and outcomes of the entire organization.
We are looking for a strategic thought partner who can move beyond simple execution. You will be challenged to quickly diagnose complex problems, put structure around ambiguity, and lead alongside top talent. This role places you at the center of our Channels people strategy, enabling Card HR to deliver with a focus on innovation, simplicity, transparency, and scalability.
General Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Project Leadership: Leading moderate to large complex projects and programs by providing strategic direction to partners, peers, and direct reports.
  • Problem Solving & Diagnosis: Leveraging problem solving and influencing skills to ensure project plans deliver on intent.
  • Adaptive Planning: Designing, developing, and managing project plans in complex, dynamic environments, adapting requirements to meet evolving needs. Developing decks and materials with a strong focus on storytelling through data.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: Partnering cross-functionally with project customers and senior leaders across Card Operations, CS&S and HR to provide strategic and tactical thought partnership to effectively drive project delivery.
  • Operations & HR Dynamics: Leveraging a deep understanding of the unique dynamics within an operations organization combined with a people-centered HR mindset to ensure strategies are relevant and impactful to the groups we support.
  • Change Management: Leading and developing change management plans in support of projects, ensuring that strategic initiatives are not only delivered but clearly communicated and embraced.
  • Risk & Delivery: Ensuring projects are documented appropriately to mitigate risk and delivered on time, while maintaining excellent communication and teamwork skills essential for influencing outcomes at all levels.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience
  • At least 3 Years of Project Management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters or MBA degree
  • At least 10+ years of Project Management experience
  • At least 2+ years of Human Resources experience
  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
  • Working knowledge of product prioritization and delivery tools including Jira, Jira Align, Confluence
  • Change management and design thinking experience
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent problem solving and influencing skills

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $151,900 - $173,400 for Manager, Project Management
Richmond, VA: $138,100 - $157,700 for Manager, Project Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
