Job description

The Payments Operations Analyst is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and risk integrity of payment operations. This position focuses on optimizing payment systems, defining and monitoring performance metrics (e.g., transaction speed, failure rates, chargeback ratios), and serving as an escalation point for complex payment issues. The role requires strong analytical judgment, cross‑functional collaboration, and the ability to translate transaction‑level data into actionable insights that improve system performance and reduce risk. 

What You'll Do:

  • Transaction Processing & Monitoring: Executing and monitoring high-value payments, ACH files, and card transactions. 

  • Investigation: Identify discrepancies and performing root cause analysis on failures of payment transactions. 

  • Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensuring adherence to financial regulations (e.g., AML, KYC) and internal audit-ready records. 

  • Process Improvement: Identifying control gaps, improving operational workflows, and partnering with product teams to enhance system efficiency. 

  • Cross-functional Support: Assisting Customer Support, Finance, and R&D teams with payment data, inquiries, and technical issues.  

  • Chargeback Support & Processing: Reviewing, monitoring, and investigating incoming chargeback claims from banks to determine validity. This includes: gathering documentation (receipts, shipping records, user logs) to create compelling rebuttal cases for representment - monitoring chargeback ratios and trends to provide actionable feedback for reducing future disputes, analyzing transactions for potential fraud and working with payment systems to prevent future disputes 

What We're Looking For:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred 

  • 2 - 5 years of payments experience preferred 

  • Understanding of card payment systems
