Job description

Position Description
The Senior Card Services Advisor serves as a subject matter expert in card services operations and provides advanced support for debit and credit card servicing, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and member service activities. This role is responsible for resolving complex card-related issues, supporting operational excellence, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and network rules, and enhancing the overall member experience. The position also supports card product promotions, product development initiatives, and service enhancements while maintaining fraud analysis functions, general ledger reconciliations, and reports related to credit card adjustments. The Senior Card Services Advisor works in close partnership with the Card Services Manager and collaborates across the organization to support strategic and operational objectives.
The position is located at Kensington, MD headquarters. The role is hybrid, in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Position Responsibilities
  • Review and reconcile card adjustment reports to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal procedures.
  • Monitor card portfolio performance and identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and risk mitigation.
  • Support business debit and credit card products by providing guidance and assistance to internal departments and business members.
  • Assist with audits, examinations, and compliance reviews by gathering documentation and responding to inquiries.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with card processors and other third-party service providers.
  • Participate in the testing and validation of system enhancements, card program updates, and new product implementations.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of daily, weekly, and monthly card services operational tasks.
  • Serve as a backup to the Card Services Advisor and support departmental projects and strategic initiatives as assigned.
  • Collaborate with departments across the credit union as needed to support operational and member service goals.
Leadership and Collaboration
  • Act as a senior resource for the Card Services team by providing expertise, guidance, and support on complex card services matters.
  • Promote collaboration across departments to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen the member experience, and support card program performance.
  • Recommend process improvements that strengthen fraud prevention, operational controls, and service delivery.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma required; two to five years of experience in card services, call center operations, or financial services preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to foster teamwork by maintaining positive morale, collaborating effectively with team members and management, and contributing to the resolution of problems and achievement of department goals.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-volume work environment.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with PC applications, including core systems and Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
