Job description

Car Connection is hiring an experienced Lead Automotive Technician / Shop Foreman for our busy used car dealership and automotive repair shop in Raleigh, NC.

This is a full-time, hands-on position for a skilled technician who can accurately diagnose difficult mechanical and electrical problems, complete repairs, oversee shop workflow, and assist other technicians when needed. This is not a desk-only management position—you will work directly on vehicles while helping ensure repairs are completed correctly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose check-engine lights, drivability concerns, electrical faults, no-start conditions, and communication-system problems
  • Perform engine, transmission, brake, suspension, steering, cooling-system, HVAC, and general automotive repairs
  • Use professional scan tools, wiring diagrams, multimeters, test lights, and technical repair information
  • Inspect vehicles and determine the correct repairs needed
  • Help assign and coordinate work with other technicians
  • Assist less-experienced technicians with difficult repairs and diagnostic problems
  • Verify completed repairs before vehicles leave the shop
  • Clearly communicate repair findings, required parts, and estimated completion times
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work area
  • Help keep dealership inventory and customer vehicles moving through the shop efficiently

Qualifications:

  • Strong professional automotive repair experience
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and technical repair information
  • Experience using professional automotive scan tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to perform both major and minor automotive repairs
  • Experience working on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles
  • Leadership skills and the ability to guide other technicians
  • Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
  • Must have personal automotive tools appropriate for an experienced technician
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic
  • ASE certifications are preferred but not required

Compensation will be based on experience, diagnostic ability, productivity, and leadership skills.
