Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Industrial Maintenance Electrician is responsible for safely maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial electrical systems to support reliable plant operations. This journeyman-level role performs preventive maintenance, routine and non-routine repairs, and electrical installations while ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational requirements.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Maintain, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical equipment, including AC motors, power distribution systems, substation maintenance, etc.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Controls & Automation Support: Troubleshoot and support electrical controls including VFDs, motor controls, PLCs, HMIs, and related control systems.
  • Low & Medium Voltage Work: Safely install, maintain, and troubleshoot low and medium voltage electrical systems up to 13.8kv.
  • Facility Electrical Infrastructure: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot infrastructure.
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Apply analytical troubleshooting techniques using diagnostic electrical test equipment, blueprints, diagrams, and OEM manuals to identify and resolve issues.
  • Working at Heights: Safely perform work at heights using ladders and aerial work platforms as required.
  • Safety Compliance: Perform all work in accordance with MSHA requirements, site procedures, and NFPA70E and NEC electrical safety standards. Use of all required PPE.
  • Installation & Construction: Perform conduit installation and support electrical construction and modification projects.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Minimum of 3 years of troubleshooting experience as an Industrial or Commercial Maintenance Electrician. Residential electrical experience alone does not qualify for this role.
  • Strong industrial equipment electrical troubleshooting experience
  • Experience working with low and medium voltage electrical systems up to 13.8kv
  • Experience with AC and/or DC motors & controls
  • Experience using diagnostic electrical test equipment
  • Ability to speak, read, comprehend, and write English

Preferred

  • Experience with VFDs, rectifiers, and substation transformers
  • Mining experience


WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and high-humidity environments
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, squat, and work in confined spaces

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
