Amentum is seeking a CNC Machine Repair Supervisor to lead and manage a skilled technical team supporting operations at our Lafayette, IN client facility. This role requires a hands-on leader with expertise in maintaining advanced industrial equipment and a passion for developing teams in a fast-paced production environment.
The Supervisor will oversee the preventive and predictive maintenance activities for CNC machines and other industrial systems, ensuring reliability and performance while driving continuous improvement.
Shift: 2nd Shift | Hours: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM (hours may vary based on business needs)
Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of multi-skilled technicians, providing guidance, technical direction, and training as needed.
  • Manage, prioritize, and schedule repair, maintenance, and equipment servicing tasks through the CMMS (Maximo), ensuring on-time task completion.
  • Lead troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and documentation for CNC machines, robotic systems, multi-axis grinders, central coolant systems, HVAC units, pumps, hydraulic/electrical systems, and related equipment.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for PLC and distributed I/O control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Fanuc).
  • Identify root causes of equipment issues and oversee corrective actions to ensure asset reliability.
  • Conduct safety audits, enforce safety regulations, and provide training to team members on lockout/tag-out and other safety procedures.
  • Create, present, and analyze performance reports, including downtime and cost savings opportunities, to management and clients.
  • Develop, monitor, and optimize preventive and corrective maintenance practices to maximize efficiency and equipment uptime.
  • Manage contractor/vendor services and oversee repairs and projects as necessary.
  • Promote and adhere to the Amentum Safety Structure to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and industry standards.

Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 10+ years' experience in industrial production or facilities maintenance (or a combination of relevant education and experience).
  • 5+ years' supervisory experience in an industrial maintenance or production environment.
  • Proven expertise in troubleshooting and maintaining CNC machines, robotic systems, automated equipment, HVAC, and hydraulics.
  • Experience working with electrical systems, including PLCs, 480V systems, and motor controls.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide technical teams and interact with clients professionally.
  • Ability to operate aerial lifts and scissor lifts at heights up to 30 feet.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, trade school credentials, or 5+ years' supervisory experience in industrial facilities or production maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Access) for reporting and data analysis.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, cost savings initiatives, and continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, or Kaizen.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a cross-trained, multi-skilled technical workforce.
  • Experience creating presentations and delivering them to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems (Maximo) for task scheduling and documentation.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must pass a pre-employment substance test and maintain STS certification within the first year.
  • Valid driver's license and U.S. work authorization.
  • Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client location.
  • Availability for weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, kneel, bend, stretch, and move repetitively during shifts.
  • Comfortable walking extensively throughout the facility.
  • Ability to perform repetitive wrist movements, use hand tools, and differentiate between color-coded wiring.
  • Communicate professionally with clients in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
  • Note: Work requires the use of PPE, including steel-toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and hard hats.
