Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a journeyman Boilermaker Welder, in this his role you will be responsible for the effective day to day execution of maintenance and repair of heavy-duty mobile equipment, identifying reliability issues, and managing reporting. Additionally, you will mentor less experienced maintenance technicians and teaching maintenance best practices.

  • Fabrication & maintenance of structural supports
  • Layout, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble needed products such as pressure vessels
  • Maintenance of fabricated systems
  • Analyze engineered drawings and specifications to welding operation where procedural information is unavailable
  • Component & system identification
  • Assist in development of safe practices and advanced welding procedures
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Pass welding test 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, & 5G (Beveled 3/8" Coupon Test Flat, Horizontal, Vertical & Overhead)
  • Basic Hydraulics
  • Basic Pneumatics
  • Knowledge of welding technique, metallurgy, & engineering requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, including walking up and down stairs and across uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold environments with high humidity.
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in confined spaces.
  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
