Description:
In this role, as part of a multidisciplinary engineering and construction team, you will develop and integrate engineering deliverables for complex and challenging electrical construction projects in the mission critical, healthcare, industrial, transportation, pharmaceutical, federal, and fortune 500 sectors. Work products include detailed design drawings, specifications, studies, product selections, installation sequence plans, and commissioning testing scripts, as well as the life cycle execution of the systems associated. The role is located on-site at a project location or at M.C. Dean office locations, as required to support project delivery.
This is a position for an experienced engineer, and general use and application of concepts, practices, and techniques is expected. You must be able to identify and develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity with limited to moderate oversight. You will be provided with tools required to succeed, including access to more experienced engineers, and training on industry standards, codes, and software that will facilitate and drive the requirements of your work. You will be expected to properly understand and utilized the tools provided to you.
The M.C. Dean E&C Electrical Systems Engineering team provides comprehensive, fully integrated engineering services and management to the Engineering and Construction Division, in specific support of the Operations Team and the execution of construction. As a member of the team, you will participate in all aspects of system design and construction, including preconstruction and estimating, design and engineering, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC/BIM), and electrical construction. You will be heavily exposed to, and actively coordinate with, other building systems provided by MCDean, including telecommunications, electronic security, fire alarm, and electrical automation and control. You will also be exposed to all aspects of construction and expected to coordinate your work as required with other trades, such as architecture and mechanical/plumbing.
Required Position Qualifications
1. Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline from an accredited engineering program
2. 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in design or commissioning of building power systems
3. Familiarity with essential responsibilities and activities
4. Proficient in MS Office suite of products
Preferred Positions Qualifications
1. EIT Certification, ability to sit for Professional Engineers License exam within 2 years of hire
2. Experience in the mission critical, healthcare, industrial, transportation, pharmaceutical, federal, and fortune 500 sectors
3. Proficiency with AutoCAD software
4. Expert in Revit software
5. Proficiency with engineering analysis software, such as AGI32, ElumTools, SKM, or ETAP

Responsibilities
Essential responsibilities and activities include but are not limited to:
1. Originate and execute detailed design with limited supervision by Senior Engineers, including the design or integration of the following:
    1. Normal power medium and low voltage distribution systems.
    2. Emergency power generation and distribution systems, including UPS.
    3. Coordinate device locations with other trades, including mechanical, plumbing, or other (Architectural, Lab, Medical, Kitchen, etc), including interpreting equipment requirements.
    4. Interior and Exterior Lighting Design including lighting controls & layouts. Ability to perform lighting calculations.
    5. Project specifications for all equipment and installation methods.
  1. Perform analysis of electrical distribution systems, including short circuit, overcurrent device coordination, arc flash, cable pull, ductbank heating, etc.
  2. Documentation of design work via AutoCAD and REVIT in 2D and 3D platforms.
  3. Field verify existing conditions as necessary.
  4. Provide support of construction activities, including but not limited to, responses to Requests for Information, review of project equipment submittals, and technical support of operations management.
  5. Assist in mentoring entry level engineers.
  6. Assign and manage tasks for entry level engineers.
  7. Assist Project Lead Engineers in managing project support and deliverables.
  8. Manage project support and deliverables as the Project Lead Engineer on smaller or less technically complex projects.
  9. Perform quality control check of work product you provide, and work product provided by others.
  10. Travel to work locations as required.
  11. Actively participate in design and owner/architect/contractor meetings as necessary
  12. Determine or assist in determining project engineering scopes of work, deadlines, and budget, and complete support within agreed deadlines and budget.
  13. Keep senior staff informed of important and relevant service/design decisions and that the objectives of the company and the client are achieved.
  14. Coordinate work with other members of the project team.
  15. Inform all relevant MCDean staff of client matters.
  16. Commit to self-learning and professional development.
  17. Manage your time effectively and support multiple projects concurrently.
