Cherry Glass & Aluminum (CGA) is a multi-generational local business established in 1968 as a branch of Capitol Glass and then purchased and rebranded in 1978. CGA is currently looking for a self-motivated and reliable individual who understands glass and enjoys working hard to join our team. CGA is located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and specializes in glass and aluminum solutions for commercial and residential applications. This position will be based out of Idaho Falls, Idaho.


Core Purpose

The Glazier/Glass Technician provides hands-on expertise in installing residential and commercial glass systems, including windows, insulated glass units, shower enclosures, mirrors, and storefront systems. This role is essential to delivering high-quality installations, maintaining safety standards, and building trust with contractors and residential homeowners.


What Youll Do

Daily Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, install, and replace residential windows and glass systems
  • Install insulated glass units, mirrors, shower enclosures, cabinet glass, and window systems
  • Cut, fit, and align glass precisely within frames
  • Install commercial storefront systems and aluminum framing as needed
  • Read and interpret blueprints and work orders to meet project specifications
  • Apply sealants and weatherproofing materials as required
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality and defect-free results
  • Safely lift, handle, and maneuver large panes of glass (50+ lbs)
  • Assist with loading/unloading trucks and organizing daily job materials
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned work vehicles

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, organized job site
  • Collaborate with team members and project managers to stay on schedule
  • Support cross-training across other job functions as needed.
  • Ensure consistent use of PPE and adherence to safety procedures
  • Collaborate with project managers to keep timelines on track.

As Needed

  • Troubleshoot installation challenges or measurement discrepancies
  • Communicate professionally with contractors and residential customers
  • Work overtime when necessary to meet deadlines and complete projects.

What You Bring (Requirements)

  • Positive attitude, team player, and strong work ethic.
  • Strong residential glazing experience required
  • Familiarity with blueprints and accurate measuring techniques.
  • Experience with insulated units, mirrors, shower doors, and window replacement
  • Ability to accurately measure, identify glass types, and solve installation issues independently
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record (required for company insurance)
  • Must pass background check
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and work on ladders or lifts
  • Comfortable climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in craftsmanship
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and consistent use of PPE
  • Commercial glazing experience a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Prior supervisory/foreman experience leading a glazing crew.
  • Advanced knowledge of commercial glazing systems.
  • OSHA training or certifications in lift/forklift operation.
  • Familiarity with both residential and commercial installation environments.
