Job Description

Staff Accountant Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Staff Accountant. If you are up for a challenge, love working in a fast-paced, energizing environment, and want to work for a growing brand, this is the job for you! Under the supervision of the Fixed Assets Accounting Manager, your role will entail accounting for IT capital expenditures, inventoried assets, and various accruals.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities

  • Track the compilation of costs into fixed asset accounts related to IT projects.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on IT costs - staying up to date on guidance issued related to capital vs expense.
  • Perform data entry, as needed, to accurately and timely record capital expenditures, including setting up new assets and processing requests to transfer or retire assets.
  • Roll-forward cost and accumulated depreciation accounts.
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts related to capital expenditures, as well as the fixed asset sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Responsible for booking accrual journal entries during month-end close.
  • Review P&L transactions for assigned accounts and prepare corrective entries and accruals, as needed.
  • Assist in answering store P&L questions from the field operations team.
  • Work with internal and external auditors to provide requested documentation and schedules.
  • Interact closely with the Accounts Payable, Restaurant Accounting, and IT teams in accomplishing your duties and responsibilities.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
  • Fixed Asset Accounting experience is required
  • Ability to understand and apply U.S. GAAP, especially as it relates to proper capitalization of assets
  • Well organized and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize while maintaining communication with direct supervisor
  • Knowledgeable in personal computer applications, including spreadsheets (intermediate to advancedExcel.)
  • Previous PeopleSoft experience preferred, but not required
  • Exemplifies a highly responsive, customer-service mindset; adopts a service-oriented working relationship with internal customers
