Job description

Overview:

Our client is seeking a Project Manager - Utilities to manage water and wastewater utility construction projects from the initial contract phase through to startup and warranty termination. Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, with a preference for water/wastewater project and design experience. No C2C inquiries!

Work Location & Schedule:
  • Primary location: East side of NC (with some travel to project sites).
  • Travel: Some travel required for project management tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee complex, technical projects, ensuring strict adherence to goals, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain detailed progress reports for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Lead project development from start to finish, ensuring successful delivery.
  • Hire, supervise, evaluate, and discipline Construction Inspectors as needed.
  • Manage the procurement of engineering proposals and monitor project budgets and construction activities.
  • Track all financial aspects of the project, including hours worked and expenses.
  • Coordinate daily project activities, ensuring all personnel and tasks are aligned with the project’s objectives.
  • Process and submit project-related paperwork, including invoices, in a timely manner to the VP of Operations.
  • Ensure projects remain within time and budget constraints, driving successful outcomes.
  • Notify management of any potential project escalations or issues that may impact success.
  • Oversee and coordinate emergency projects to ensure timely approvals and resolution.
  • Engage in regular, independent travel to various worksites during the workday.
Qualifications: Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience, with a preference for water/wastewater project and design experience.
Education & Licenses:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or a related field required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Preferred:
  • MS or MBA preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Familiarity with water modeling software is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read and interpret soil and hydro-geological reports and maps.
  • Capability to manage and complete tasks that ensure the timely approval of capital projects.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including report preparation and submission.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Focus on maintaining safe working conditions for all personnel.
  • Strong communication skills, able to interact effectively with employees and the public.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement a wide range of industry practices and procedures.
  • Capability to inspire and motivate others to achieve company goals.
