Job description

Senior Associate, Balance Transfer Marketing - Discover & UM (Hybrid)

Capital One, a Fortune Magazine "100 Best Companies to Work For," is seeking a customer-centric and detail-orientated Senior Associate to join the balance transfer marketing team to support the strategy and execution of marketing campaigns for Discover and Capital One customers. This role is part of the new and growing Discover Customer Marketing team, which owns the customer experience for Discover cardholders, and relies on collaboration and alignment with the horizontal balance transfer team that includes business strategy, product and operational teams.

Balance transfers are part of a business-critical program for Capital One and a key benefit for Capital One cardholders, allowing cardholders to move high-interest debt and pay it off with a lower interest rate.

This role requires a mix of channel marketing expertise, process management, and marketing analytics and optimization. You will be responsible for leading the strategy, creative development and well-managed execution of marketing campaigns while working closely with world-class creative agencies and cross-functional stakeholders. This highly visible role creates a powerful opportunity to take your leadership, marketing strategy, and technical skills to the next level.

Responsibilities

  • Campaign Execution: Manage end-to-end marketing initiatives, including campaign development and learning agenda execution across multiple channels: email, digital marketing and direct mail.

  • Data-Driven Optimization: Leverage performance metrics, consumer research, and market trends to identify growth opportunities, build testing frameworks, and optimize campaigns to improve results.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between the business and internal stakeholders (Delivery Lane, Brand, Data Analytics, Channel Partners, Legal, Compliance and Operations) as well as internal and external creative agencies to ensure marketing assets are on-brand, high-quality, and delivered on schedule.

  • Strategic Communication: Influence decision-making and business outcomes by translating complex business goals into clear creative briefs, test plans, and data-backed storytelling for leadership.

  • Process Management: Manage multiple projects, changing priorities, and complex, matrixed environments while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Strategic & Creative: Possesses an entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in ambiguous, matrixed environments with an "ownership mindset."

  • Analytical & Organized: Skilled in project management, capable of balancing multiple priorities, and passionate about using data and metrics to inform decisions and uncover actionable insights.

  • Collaborative Communicator: Demonstrates strong relationship-building skills and the ability to effectively influence diverse teams and internal stakeholders through clear, persuasive communication.

  • Proactive Problem-Solver: Eager to identify "white space" opportunities, resolve issues and blockers, and continuously improve processes to drive better performance and customer experiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience.

  • At least 2 years of experience in marketing, project management, brand strategy, or digital and product marketing.

  • At least 2 years of experience in planning, executing, and analyzing marketing programs.

  • At least 2 years of experience managing creative processes, partnering with creative teams, and developing creative optimization frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Marketing, Business, or Communications.

  • Experience in the financial services or retail industries.

  • Experience in acquisitions marketing or direct response strategies
