Project Controller

Your Mission
As a Project Controller, you are directly responsible for the financials, accruals, and cost controls of all sustaining and growth capital projects. Your primary goal is to meticulously track, monitor, forecast, and report on Capex project costs across the regions to ensure financial accuracy, budget adherence, and strict risk management.
What will you be doing?
  • Cost Control & Forecasting: Provide cost control support to Project Managers, overseeing project expenditures, budget comparisons, and performance data to recommend actionable progress improvements.
  • Financial Reporting & Reconciliations: Manage the monthly accrual process, reconcile project cost management tools with enterprise systems (OCS), and consolidate Sustaining Capex data for Global stakeholder reporting.
  • Risk Management & Analysis: Analyze financial information to identify variance trends and cost drivers, supporting the development of KPI control frameworks and risk registers for scheduling and costs.
  • Tax & Insurance Compliance: Act as the primary contact for project-related insurance (e.g., Construction All Risk) and collaborate with the Finance department to optimize and comply with local tax requirements.
  • Project Lifecycle Support: Validate budget correctness, percentage of completion, and spend accruals, monitoring the approval process to ensure strict adherence to budgetary constraints and timely project closures.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Coordinate regularly with Project Managers, Procurement, and internal teams to assess accruals, ETCs (Estimates to Complete), and contingency allocations.

Does this sound like you?
  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field professional and intellectual level.
  • You have 5+ years of relevant work experience in company accounting/controlling, with specific expertise in cost forecasting, project accounting, budgeting, and estimating.
  • You are proficient in English (excellent oral and written communication skills).
  • You have proven experience in an accrual-based accounting environment, including gathering cost information from contractors/suppliers and reconciling cost tracking tools to enterprise accounting systems.
  • You possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to multitask, manage multiple deadlines, and operate effectively under stressful situations.
  • You are an expert user of MS Excel and have excellent, proven knowledge of broader accounting and financial systems.
  • Preferred: You have experience working within the petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, or related industries.

Work Environment

This employee generally works in an office environment, away from extremes of cold or heat. Limited to no exposure to noise and vibrations other than normal daily office sounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee should not have regular exposure to fumes, odors, toxic conditions, dust or poor ventilation.
