GENERAL INFORMATION:
Cape Henlopen High School
Girls Wrestling, Head Coach
General Description:
The Head Coach is responsible for leading and developing the team, as well as organizing and implementing game/practice plans that will foster a positive and competitive environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the sport.
Minimum Qualification
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required. Advanced education above high school is preferred.
Essential Responsibilities
  1. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Develop and implement in-season and off-season training programs to enhance player performance.
    • Provide mentorship and support to players, fostering their physical, mental, and emotional development.
    • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback.
  2. Game Strategy and Planning:
    • Analyze opponents and develop game plans and strategies to maximize team performance.
    • Make real-time decisions during games to adapt strategies as needed.
    • Lead meetings/practices to review performance and plan future games.
  3. Team Management:
    • Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to ensure cohesive team operations.
    • Oversee the selection of players.
    • Ensure all players adhere to team rules, policies, and standards.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Maintain open lines of communication with players, coaching staff, and families.
    • Represent the team in public events and community engagements.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture.
    • All coaches and staff must use district email and district electronic communication systems.
  5. Performance Monitoring:
    • Track and analyze team and player performance metrics.
    • Implement changes and improvements based on performance statistics.
    • Set performance goals and benchmarks for the team.
  6. Administrative Duties:
    • Report to the Athletic Department the team's schedule which includes practices and games.
    • Work with the Athletic Department on travel arrangements to away contests.
    • Ensure compliance with DIAA rules and regulations.

Competencies: Success in this position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities
  1. Knowledge
    • Must have knowledge of DIAA rules and regulations.
    • Must complete training regarding Title IX and Athletics.
    • Must complete Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Concussion Training every two years.
    • Must be familiar with Cape Henlopen School District's Policy 118 (Prohibited Actions of Employees) & Policy 551 (Electronic Communication & Social Media Policy).
    • Equity initiatives & resources that promote a culture of diversity and inclusion embracing differences as a strategic opportunity towards leading the District's efforts to build a culture of equality and embodiment for all students, families, employees and the community.
    • Must be aware of relevant policies and procedures mandated by the State of DE for coaches and employees such as Criminal Background Checks, Child Protection Registry Forms & TB Tests.
    • Must have experience and a detailed knowledge of online systems such as Recruiting and Hiring and Google Docs.
    • Must possess online, digital skills to maintain records and to complete evaluations of coaching staff.
